2-Day Berber Village Trek – Authentic High Atlas Experience

Day 1: Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Tizi n'Tacht – Tiziane

Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech, followed by a scenic drive towards the High Atlas Mountains. After about 1 hour and 30 minutes, you’ll arrive at the trailhead in the peaceful Berber village of Imi Oughlad (1,450m), where you’ll meet your local team of guide, muleteer, and cook. 

From here, the trek begins with a gradual climb through juniper and oak woodlands, offering beautiful views of the surrounding valleys as part of your Atlas Mountains treks. You’ll ascend to the mountain pass of Tizi n'Tacht at 2,000 meters, where you’ll stop to enjoy a freshly prepared lunch with panoramic vistas of the Azzaden Valley below. After lunch, you’ll descend gently into the valley and continue to the picturesque village of Tiziane, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber guesthouse, immersing yourself in Morocco culture tours.

Day 2: Tiziane – Tizi n’Mzik – Imlil – Marrakech

After breakfast, you’ll start your day with a steady climb through the stunning red-walled villages and terraced farmlands of the Azzaden Valley. The trail takes you through walnut and juniper forests as you make your way towards the Tizi n’Mzik pass (2,400m). Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Imlil and Azzaden valleys, typical of High Atlas Berber village hikes. 

Upon reaching the pass, you’ll stop for a picnic lunch while taking in the panoramic mountain scenery. After lunch, you’ll descend towards Imlil, a well-known mountain village nestled at the foot of Mount Toubkal, where you might consider a Toubkal ascent 2 day tour.
