2-Day Toubkal Trek from Imlil – Reach the Roof of North Africa

Day 1: Imlil – Sidi Chamharouch – Toubkal Refuge (3,207m)

Your adventure begins in Imlil (1,740m), a beautiful Berber village in the High Atlas Mountains, located just 90 minutes from Marrakech. After meeting your local guide and mule team, you’ll start your Toubkal ascent on a captivating trek through the Mizane Valley, where you’ll pass terraced farmlands, walnut groves, and traditional Berber homes.

Along the trail, take a break at the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch — a unique pilgrimage site beside a cascading river, which is a highlight of many Atlas Mountains treks. Continue your journey through rugged mountain paths to reach the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) by late afternoon.

Day 2: Summit Mount Toubkal (4,167m) – Return to Imlil

You’ll start early — before sunrise — for the final push to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. After a steep but rewarding climb, you’ll stand at 4,167m, taking in breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains and the vast Sahara Desert, making this trek a perfect addition to any Sahara desert tour from Marrakech.

After celebrating the summit, descend back to the refuge for breakfast and a short rest. Then continue your randonnée Atlas down the valley to return to Imlil in the afternoon, completing your journey through authentic Morocco culture tours.
